The Excellence in Service Award is given to refugee service providers who go above and beyond the call of duty in providing superior service to their clients. Bilal Al Tememi, a job developer in the Targeted Assistance Program at Lutheran Refugee Services, was one of the three people in the state of Pennsylvania who were awarded this prestigious honor at the 2012 Refugee Consultation.
Mr. Al Tememi worked as an interpreter for the US Army in Iraq. In 2010, he moved to the United States as a refugee to restart his life here in America. He started by working at Tyson and volunteering with our organization. In April of 2011, Mr. Al Tememi started working full time at Lutheran Refugee Services as a job developer.
Program Coordinator at Lutheran Refugee Services, stated the reasons for his nomination well by saying, “LCFS is very fortunate to have Mr. Al Tememi. His unending efforts have not only improved the lives of many refugees, but have also helped them to be recognized by employers. His presence at LCFS is very valuable.”
